When doing your Christmas cards (or other religious holidays, too) this
year, take one card and send it to this address.

When you are making out your Christmas card list this year, please
include the following:

A Recovering American Soldier
c/o Walter Reed Army MedicalCenter
6900 Georgia Avenue, NW
Washington, D.C. 20307-5001

If we pass this on and everyone sends one card, think of how many cards
these wonderful special people who have sacrificed so much would get.

The problem is because of "security concerns" this mail will most likely
never
reach a soldier at Walter Reed. Read this from Snopes ... it includes a
better
way to reach soldiers in a program sponsored by the Red Cross:

I thought I read somewhere that there are some rules against
this....that the hospital, or military, doesn't allow them......

Or maybe they weren't allowed to be addressed to folks in particular?
I don't know.....I read something.....just check on it before people
waste money. No sense spending the money if the stuff is just
tossed.

"The Red Cross" used to have rules that you needed a S.S.# to send mail
to a specific person in the military, because I have two nephews serving
in the armed services.

I should have checked 'snopes' first to find out they have fixed the
problem and have a new solution.

Thanks, Paul.
