Spent fifteen minutes at the courthouse on the West Coast. We had a
mandatory meeting with an alternative dispute resolution referee who
apparently has some of the powers of a judge. I was only able to get
in five words but here's my interpretation of the legalese in the
exchange between the ref and plaintiff Weed.
Note: These are not the words of the ref, just what I believe the ref
is trying to say. Weed's words are his.
ref: Why is only Mr. Lubow here? Where are the other two defendants?
Weed: I haven't been able to serve them.
ref: You dumb asshole! We gave you nine months to serve these guys
instead of the customary two months and you still can't get the job
done? Not only that, but Mr. Lubow single handedly closed the state's
deficit crisis by paying these ridiculous court fees while we gave you
a free ride. I can't believe anyone is this incompetent and this
stupid.
Weed: [Doing a Ralph Kramden imitation when confronted by a woman who
is more intelligent than he is] Ummma... ummma... ummma.
ref: Shuddup. We have a lot of cases here and I don't have the time
to listen to your dumb excuses.
Weed: But I wanna talk about why I didn't serve the motion opposition
to Mr. Lubow even though I filed a Proof of Service.
ref: Didn't you hear me? Little man, I told you to STFU. Are you
capable of doing at least one thing right in your useless, miserable
life?
Weed: ummma... ummma ... ummma.
ref: I'm giving you 30 days to serve the other two defendants or I'm
dismissing this case
Lubow: Are we done, your honor?
ref: Yes. |
